Just to get to know me a little better, I was born and raised in the Central Valley. I love it and believe that we as a community have so much to offer in so many areas. Ever since I can remember I was either building, problem solving, creating, destroying or just finding ways to keep my mind and hands working.
I got into teaching right out of college and fell in love with it. I was able to take my background in manufacturing and design and teach middle/high school kids how to make their ideas become a reality. It was like I had this little community of creators eager to learn and willing to take on any challenge I threw at them. Not only did this give me hope for the world, but it made me realize the power of teaching and creating.
Putting my love of teaching on pause, I decided to get back out into industry to learn more of the trade again. I was able to gain more skills on the construction side which has broadened my understanding in many areas, aiding my designs and allowing me to push the limits of different materials. I was also able to understand how we as individuals interact with the space we work in. Showing how important it is for these spaces to be creative and inviting design wise.
By this time, you are probably wondering a few things.
1. Why in the world did I decide to read this whole about me page?
2. Is she still teaching? Because it seems like that’s her vibe.
3. Why am I still reading this?
Well, to answer those questions (hopefully there aren’t any more..but if there are, please reach out) I am still a designer, creator, and builder. That still hasn’t changed. I believe there is power in teaching and this can happen with every opportunity there is, you do not need to be a teacher in a classroom, as long as you are willing to accept it. You are probably still reading this because you also like to make cool things and might be interested in making that happen.
With all that said, reach out if you want to chat, keep making cool shit if you already are, teach someone something you know, have fun doing all of it, and always do the things you love to do!
